splitting splines

hi, i need to create fractures of a user defined spline. what i have so far is the creation of new splines like the yellow line using the points of the original spline as start and end point for the new ones. however, i'd want to have those splitted splines be curved like the original.

how do i get this?? thanks for any help here.
