I'm currently writing my own render server with client (like the Net Render) in C++. I've made some testings how to access the Cinema 4D render engine. I'm creating a process using winAPI's CreateProcess(...) using the "-nogui -render etc..." commandline to start the Cinema 4D.exe and start rendering files. The question is now - is there any way to read the rendering progress or change the CPU thread count while rendering, or stop rendering? Sure - I can close the cinema 4D.exe process to stop rendering but maybe are there some commands to remote controll the C4D.exe while rendering?
Otherwise the only way would be to catch the console output of the C4D.exe and parse the output text if frames were rendered or not and if there are errors. Am I right? Any other suggestions how to do the communication between my client and Cinema 4D?
