So, when does this actually work - that is, setting the 'checknames' argument to TRUE?

My plugin objects are being created/inserted via a CommandData (as there is more than one object and some other configuration to be done) at the user's bequest. But if this argument is set to TRUE and I add multiple sets, there is no appending of ".1, .2 etc.".

Does this only work in programmatic succession or will it work as the user creates them?

Hmm, I haven´t used it for some time now but if I remember correctly it always worked fine for me. I´ll try this tommorrow when I´m in the office.

Thanks, Samir.

Well, if it is indeed not working then I already have a system in place that does a similar thing.

Hey,

ok, I just tried it. And you are right, at least in R11 it doesn´t work!

Just got an answer from the developers. The name numbering parameter has been disabled since it was never working completly reliable. The SDK docu will be changed accordingly.

Matthias

Ah, so this is really not working? I was afraid, I did something wrong all the time. Never saw it working (10.1, 10.5, 11) 😉

Thanks for die Info, Matthias.
