Hello,

i am still curious wether its possible or someone tried before to make a living of developing C4D plugins?

I think most coders out there like Arndt/Samir etc. are still doing other stuff in full time is that right? or are they any real life examples that its possible?

Can't speak for Arndt and Samir, but I'd consider this a full time living. Income has been good enough combined with partner's to start actually upgrading the house, paying credit cards, and wearing socks without holes. :)

In my case, the prospective number of C4D users is smaller due to the niche state of my plugins - can't charge them for every update. A well priced, written, supported plugin that has features many want could garner enough income to live comfortably for a couple years - in which time you could develop one or more plugins.

In that sense, plugin dev is more of a commercial/freelance market than a commercial business. There are some companies that do this as a business (Greenworks, Reiss-Studio, e-On (though they do have that other minor product Vue something or other)). ;)

As a beginning, I wouldn't go into it expecting to make a living at it. Go into it with your goals and see what transpires.
