Now, when I was opening a dialog over the View window to show object names, I used a clever but dangerous trick where I'd open the dialog, do some calculations with respect to the View window to get a new position, and then close and reopen the dialog at that new position. It is not a recommended solution and was abandoned due to instabilities.
Such is the control of Cinema 4D SDK GUIs.
