Can an expression tag create new geometry? Here's my idea:
I want to create a "greeble" expression tag, with fields for poly selection, etc. I want the tag to create new geometry similar to instances of greeble objects, placed on the poly selections. I want this to be a tag so that you can adjust the parameters and see the results in the editor. The tag would cache the created "greebles" so redraws would be like just drawing regular instances.

Ok - I've gone ahead with my idea, and decided that I like the way this works.
Rather than creating geometry and caching it for the redraws, I actually create instances of objects from a "greeble library" and attach them to the parent object at the poly normals. This creates lots of instances of objects, but works the way I like.
Be looking for a "Create Greebles" plugin in the near future.

Why not using a generator object?

Don't know - I'll have to look into what a "generator object" is. Thanks for the suggestion.
