--------- I was able within my plugin to create a set of bones, get them in the right location, parent them, (then get them back into the right location ) and link them to the weight vertex maps. The bones and maps have the same name.
The weight maps show up as the yellow and red on the model - and all values are between 0 and 1.0. After hitting fix on the root bone, all bones behave as expected if I leave off the weight maps. But when I have them linked to the weight maps with restriction tags on the bones, only the desired points move but they spin around 360 degress for roughly every 6 degrees I rotate a bone. The restriction value is 100%, but changing it doesn't seem to make a difference.
What could cause this problem? I'm perplexed.
Also, is there any way from within a plugin to activate the 'fix bone and children' command?
Thanks, David

That sounds strange. Could you send a scene and some source to [email protected]?
