--------- next question,is it possible to make your own custom handles?
I mean rather than using the BaseDraw->Handle3D can i somehow use any baseDraw object as an active handle for manipulating my object? (for instance if possible i would like to make cubic handles that the user can define the size of among other things).
If it's possible, how do I do this?

The Handle3D() function doesn't make a handle, it just draws a handle shape, you still have to handle the mouse events yourself, so you can draw any shape you like as a handle, take a look at the SDK examples, such as Spherify, it has a number of Handle functions MoveHandle(), DetectHandle().
