I think, you want to look into SpecialEventAdd(). The events posted by this function will be received in Cinema 4D's main thread, either in GeDialog.CoreMessage() or MessageData.CoreMessage().
This can be used to establish a communication between different modules, even though the amount of data such an event can carry is a bit limited. So it will rather be a notification that new data may be consumed from a predefined place, rather than actually transmitting the data.
